Univer Soles Presents "Love Woods"

It's been a while since I dropped anything under Univer Soles my custom Kick label. Since working on Flight Of Fancy I've been all over the place, but don't think for a minute that I am slipping lol. These where done for Love Nu Art magazine (Dec. Issue) for their special edition Hearts and Arts event held for Aids and Heart disease awareness, so I whipped them up a pair of kicks. The "Love Woods" Air Force 1's painted with white and gray uppers and side panels putting a special twist on wood grain for aids (wood = erection), the back is covered with red oversized hearts for heart disease and the swoosh is simply red. These are 1 0f 1's and they will not be duplicated, men's Size 11 only at Flight Of Fancy Clothing.

Oregon's BCS uniforms are here, and they are relatively sensible

We'll have plenty of time later to obsess over the match-ups, tendencies, statistics and other meatier subjects in January's BCS Championship Game. First, the really important question: Like, what is Oregon going to wear?

Of the literally hundreds of quickly discarded combinations bestowed by Nike on CEO/mega-booster Phil Knight's alma mater, which specific look makes the cut for the Ducks' debut on the biggest stage in school history? The answer came Tuesday morning in a presentation in Cowboys Stadium, where the Swoosh Masters – somewhat constrained by the Ducks' status as the designated "away" team in Glendale, Ariz., forcing them into road whites – unveiled the relatively understated look at right. Bow before its incandescent marketing might. More

Nike Foamposite Pro "Elecric Green" release March 2011

The biggest buzz for next year in the Foam world so far have been the return of the royal blue "Penny" and pewter Foamposite One colorways. But, there is also a new colorway of the Foamposite Pro hitting alongside them. The "electric green's" or "KryptoNate's," will be hitting stores in March 2011. they feature a green/black upper with an icy blue outsole. Retail is $200 and availability should be much like the "pearl" Foamposite Pro's. Will Nate Robinson wear these on the court or perhaps even in the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest? We can only wait in see, but in the meantime the biggest question is, are these on your cop list?

Talent/Art Thursday

Taking an ordinary phone book, Alex Queral carves a face into this object of so many faceless names. With the book, a very sharp X-ACTO® knife, a little pot of acrylic medium to set detail areas and a great deal of talent, Queral literally peels away the pages like the skin of an onion to reveal the portrait within. Once the carving is complete, he will often apply a black wash to enhance the features and then seal the entire book with acrylic to preserve the work. However, he never loses the line registration; and the book remains quite pliable. Site

7RON Watch

O_O I hope tokyoflash decides to put this watch into production.

Design submitted by Scott from UK.

This watch design takes its inspiration from one of Scott’s favorite films as a kid, TRON, and from his Pimp Pimpin Ain’t Easy watch. He wants something that will get noticed when it lights up and that’s why he came up with an electroluminescence strip around the whole watch strap.

The two rings (styled on a Tron Disc) represent minutes (outer) and hours (inner). The break in the ring represents the time in a normal clock face layout.

The electroluminescence strip and LED watch face makes the whole watch light up and will definitely stand out from other watches.

New Spinal Implant to Help People With Paraplegia Exercise Paralyzed Limbs

It is the first time that researchers have developed a device of this kind that is small enough to be implanted into the spinal canal and incorporates the electrodes and muscle stimulator in one unit. The implant is the size of a child's fingernail.

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) project is being led by Professor Andreas Demosthenous from University College London. It includes engineers from Freiburg University and the Tyndall Institute in Cork.

"The work has the potential to stimulate more muscle groups than is currently possible with existing technology because a number of these devices can be implanted into the spinal canal," said Professor Andreas Demosthenous. "Stimulation of more muscle groups means users can perform enough movement to carry out controlled exercise such as cycling or rowing."

Tech/Science Tuesday The anatomy of Zilla, the TriStar 'Godzilla'

Okay, yes I am a HUUUGGEE Godzilla fan and yes the 98' remake sucked badly and no that is NOT Godzilla. Here's an in depth article explaining everything that's wrong with "Zilla" and how it should be sacreligious to consider her Godzilla.

By Darren Naish

I recently posted an updated version of the 'Science of Godzilla' article, and what a great success it was. But I'm kicking myself, because I totally forgot something else I should have mentioned: Tracy L. Ford recently had cause to produce a number of anatomical drawings of Zilla (aka GINO*/Deanzilla/Fraudzilla), the monster bipedal reptile that invades New York in the 1998 TriStar movie Godzilla. Like all Godzilla fans, I don't regard Zilla as a 'Godzilla' at all; rather, it's a charlatan, an imposter. And the movie itself is awful. Read More

SWIZZ BEATZ X REEBOK COLLABORATION

This shoe has me literally salivating! Earlier this year Hip Hop producer Swizz Beatz collaborated with Christian Louboutin for a collection. I love the cool and quiet grays then they hit you with the green great work cant wait.

Whenever, music artists collaborate with sneaker brands, an exceptional design is usually the product. Preview photos of the upcoming Swizz Beats x Reebok joint effort surfaced earlier this week to many people’s surprise. This one-of-a-kind, high-top design won over sneaker enthusiasts instantly and rightfully. We must applaud both sides for using minimal branding and incorporating the unique, triangular-shaped sole construction. More photos are coming soon this is an expected 2011 release.

I got the Munchies Monday (Marley's @380 Beale)

Today we check out Marley's a downtown Caribbean style family restaurant. Marley's is a family owned restaurant serving up everything from calamari (squid) to Ox tail stew! You can find it downtown on 380 Beale (the old Plush club) its also a great place for the downtown professional lunch crowd providing a call in and pick up service. Please support this local family owned business and help continue to grow this great city.

Laptops and infertility: It matters how you sit

If guys can find a way to operate laptop computers with their legs apart, they might limit their risk of infertility, a new study finds. Keeping the legs splayed while using a laptop generated substantially less damaging heat in the scrotum than keeping legs together, scientists report online November 8 in Fertility and Sterility. Putting a shield under the laptop didn’t seem to help beat the heat. Dont kill your soldiers before the battle man!!! Read more

Is Science Art?

Displayed over three panels the work reprints a scientific paper in its entirety: "Interaction of stellar wind with diffuse nebulae," by S.B. Pikel'ner. If you click on the image you can actually read the whole paper. So is this art?

Is this work saying that there's really no difference between science and art? Or that art has become so technical and abstruse that it might as well be an impenetrable scientific tract?

Pic via Scienceblogs.com

The work consisted of three panels, painted completely white. The artist insisted that the color white represented nothing at all. Is this art?
